Printed Film Registration: What Buyers Should Check

Understand print marks, repeat length, tension, and tracking before ordering a printed-bag line.

Why registration matters

Printed packaging requires each cut and seal to stay aligned with the artwork. Variation in print repeat or film tension can move the design away from the intended bag position.

Prepare the right film information

Provide the mark color, mark size, repeat length, printing direction, roll width, and a full-width sample. The sensor must be able to distinguish the registration mark from the surrounding artwork.

Control tension through the line

Stable unwinding and feeding reduce stretch and drift. Thin films and extensible materials may require different tension settings from rigid laminated structures.

Test with production material

Whenever possible, trial the actual printed roll rather than a substitute. This verifies sensor response, sealing behavior, cut position, and finished presentation together.
